A 4-week proof-of-architecture — weekly demos, decision-grade output.

System Prototyping is a 4-week senior-led engagement that answers one question: can this architecture survive contact with real constraints? The prototype is the answer; the one-page architecture document is the contract.

The problem

Internal "build vs buy" debates that never end.

Three engineers, three opinions, six months of slide decks. The fastest way through the debate is a prototype with measurable success criteria. System Prototyping is the engagement shape for it: tight scope, weekly demos, a written recommendation at the end that says productize like this, buy from these vendors, or pivot, the assumption is wrong.

How I solve it

Four phases.

Deliverables

What you walk away with.

  • One-page architecture (PDF + Mermaid source)
  • Working prototype with success-criterion measurements
  • BOM with build-vs-buy rationale per component
  • Written recommendation: productize, buy, or pivot
  • Source code + repo handover

When NOT to hire me for this

If you need a polished production-grade product on day one, prototyping isn't the engagement shape — talk to me about App Dev or AI Consulting instead.

FAQ

Prototyping questions.

What is System Prototyping?

A 4-week senior-led proof-of-architecture engagement that produces a working prototype, a one-page architecture document, and a decision-grade recommendation for productization or pivot.

Is the prototype production-ready?

No — that's the point of a prototype. It is decision-grade: it answers the question "can this architecture survive contact with real constraints?" Productization is a separate engagement.

What does demoable mean here?

Every weekly demo is something you can run yourself. Not screenshots, not slide-deck mock-ups — running code on running hardware (real or simulated).

What does an engagement cost?

EUR 25–60k depending on hardware-in-the-loop requirements and number of integration points. Fixed-price after the spec workshop.
